Innovative Energy Management Workshop for Water and Wastewater Treatment Plants in the Southwest

EPA and our co-sponsors hosted the “Innovative Energy Management Workshop” on December 16, 2008 in Sacramento, California.  The workshop was designed to provide energy management concepts, tools, and techniques to assist water and wastewater utilities in implementing measurable energy reduction goals.

Co-sponsors: California State Water Resources Control Board, California Energy Commission, California Public Utilities Commission, California Water Environment Association, the Southern California Alliance of Publicly Owned Treatment Works, and ICLEI (Local Governments for Sustainability).

With our co-sponsors, we have activities planned in the near future to help drinking water and wastewater utilities reduce energy use and incorporate the use of renewables into their operations.  We are committed to assisting communities in meeting the challenges posed by increasing energy costs and associated environmental concerns.
