Funding

Step 3: IMPLEMENT

Would you like to improve your wastewater treatment facility's energy efficiency but lack funding? Is there help out there? Yes, there is. There is help from federal, state, and private sources. The federal government provides grants, loans, and rebates. Your state government may provide these services as well. State agencies may provide grants, loans, renewable credits, rebates, stand-by and other special rates for energy conservation practices. There are also private sources of funding from local utility districts and financial mechanisms such as private third party leasing arrangements and pooled bond financing.

Navigating the Toolkit

This EPA toolkit organizes funding for sustainable water infrastructure improvements by the federal government, state governments, and private sources. Furthermore, the funding sources — such as grants, loans, renewable credits, rebates, stand-by and other special rates for energy conservation practices —are subdivided by agency. The eligibility and criteria for each grant program varies. To submit comments on how to improve the next version of this tool, please contact Charlotte Ely (Ely.Charlotte@epa.gov).
