Training and Certification Opportunities
EPA campus.com: EPA Stormwater Management Training Course teaches the Best Management Practices (BMP) that Erosion Control supervisors and Project Managers must know in order to manage erosion and sedimentation at construction sites. Objectives of include the erosion and sedimentation process, the duties of an Erosion Control Supervisor/Project Manager, regulatory requirements, materials handling and BMPs for erosion and sediment control.
WaterSense: In order to become a WaterSense irrigation partner, professionals in the industry must first become certified through a WaterSense labeled certification program. This process helps ensure that WaterSense irrigation partners are trained in the design, installation, and maintenance of water-efficient irrigation systems.

American Rainwater Catchment Systems Association (ARCSA) provides three levels of training courses which can lead to becoming an ARCSA Certified Professional (ARCSA CP)
The American Water Works Association provides up-to-date information on conferences, on-line training, seminars and symposiums.
Association of Boards of Certification (ABC) offers a voluntary certification program to water treatment, distribution, collection, wastewater treatment, and industrial waste operators, water and wastewater laboratory analysts, plant maintenance technologists, and biosolids land appliers. ABC certification is not only a way to protect public health and the environment, but provides numerous career benefits to both employees and employers.
Build It Green: As green building becomes more popular, homeowners and those purchasing homes are looking for contractors, architects, engineers, specialty contractors, and real estate professionals who are qualified to provide green building services. The Certified Green Building Professional (CGBP) training is open to all California building professionals involved in the design and construction of residential buildings, as well as to professionals that support and develop the market for green building. Courses include water heating, water conservation, and landscaping.
California Landscape Contractors Association (CLCA) provides a Water Management Certification Program to reduce landscape water usage by using a water audit, budget and advanced irrigation technology. The program is designed for green industry professionals like landscape contractors, landscape designers, landscape architects, HOA property managers, water agency personnel, city water conservation personnel, students in the landscape industry and anyone from the public concerned about saving landscape water.
The Center for Watershed Protection provides various training and educational opportunities for watershed managers and their staff. Past training subjects have included erosion and sediment control at construction sites as well as implementation of low-impact development such as permeable pavement.
Green Plumbers training consists of a five-course, 32-hour accreditation in environmental and technical issues including Climate Care, Caring For Our Water, Solar Hot Water, Water Efficient Technology, and an Inspection Report Service.
Green Roofs for Healthy Cities (GRHC) Professional Accreditation Program is a comprehensive and multi-disciplinary training approach covering the most recent information on green roof design, installation and maintenance best practices.
Greywater Action provides a training course for the installation of greywater systems that are compliant with California’s new greywater code. The course covers indoor and outdoor greywater uses, basic plumbing and landscaping skills, and site assessment.
The Irrigation Association promotes efficient irrigation technologies and sound water management and best practices through professional training, public education, and research and development. Certified irrigation contractors, landscape irrigation designers, and golf and landscape irrigation auditors qualify to become EPA WaterSense partners.
Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) is a green building certification system which provides training aimed at improving performance across all the metrics that matter most: energy savings, water efficiency, CO2 emissions reduction, improved indoor environmental quality, and stewardship of resources and sensitivity to their impacts.
The Monterey Bay Green Gardener Program provides professional training and certification in ecological landscaping. Green Gardener students receive practical instruction in landscape practices that conserve water, reduce waste, and prevent urban storm water pollution.
National Ready Mixed Concrete Association (NRMCA) offers certifications in several environmentally sustainable water related programs providing a competitive edge within the industry while showcasing its understanding of concrete’s role in stormwater runoff mitigation.

Sustainability Education and Economic Development (SEED) database highlights green jobs training curriculum from participating community colleges around the nation.
Watershed Management Group's (WMG) Water Harvesting Certification program provides a unique hands-on training for landscape architects, educators, community organizers and activists, and entrepreneurs. The only program of its kind in the nation, this 65-hour course features small class sizes and expert instructors to teach installation and implementation of water harvesting systems, including grey water, steel and plastic cisterns, and water harvesting earthworks. Participants learn the core principles of sustainable landscape design, including incorporation of native and edible plants, with a focus on residential retrofits.
