Fine Particulate Pollution in San Diego
San Diego Meets Standard
April 4, 2005: San Diego County attained the Fine Particulate National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS). This designation is in response to 2002-2004 air monitoring data and is done in accordance with the Final Rule on Fine Particulate Designations published in the Federal Register on January 5, 2005 (70 FR 944). Previously, EPA announced that San Diego did not attain the Fine Particulate NAAQS based 2001-2003 air monitoring data, however, EPA is revising its designation to reflect the newer air monitoring data.
