On September 4, 2013, EPA published a notice in the Federal Register determining that the West Central Pinal nonattainment area has attained the 2006 24-hour PM2.5 national ambient air quality standard (NAAQS).

July 2013: Proposed Determination of Attainment for the 2006 24-Hour PM2.5 National Ambient Air Quality Standard in the West Central Pinal Nonattainment Area
On July 12, 2013 EPA published a notice in the Federal Register proposing to determine that the West Central Pinal nonattainment area has attained the 2006 24-hour PM2.5 national ambient air quality standard (NAAQS). EPA will accept comment on the proposal for 30 days after publication.

May 2012: Final Redesignation as Nonattainment for the PM-10 NAAQS
On May 23, 2012, EPA redesignated an area in western Pinal County, Arizona to nonattainment for the 1987 24-hour National Ambient Air Quality Standard (NAAQS) for particulate matter (PM-10). Today’s final action will become effective 30 days from the date of publication in the Federal Register.

October 2010: Proposed Redesignation of Nonattainment for the PM-10 NAAQS
EPA has proposed to redesignate the western portion of Pinal County, Arizona nonattainment for the 1987 24-hour National Ambient Air Quality standard (NAAQS) for particulate matter (PM-10) based on ambient monitoring data that indicate widespread and frequent violations of the standard. EPA is accepting comments on the proposal until November 1, 2010.
