RCRA Corrective Action
The RCRA Corrective Action program investigates and cleans up, or “remediates”, facilities that manage hazardous wastes. All of the Region 9 (Pacific Southwest) states (Arizona, California, Hawaii, and Nevada), as well as the territory of Guam, have been authorized to implement RCRA corrective action. They therefore take the lead in corrective action on most sites in their states, with oversight by EPA. EPA is responsible for corrective action on tribal lands, and conducts corrective action as needed in the Region 9 states as well.
