Poland ranks 9th in global coal production – nearly 145 million metric tons (Mmt) in 2012 – and 11th in coal mine methane (CMM) emissions, which are projected to approach 9 million metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (MTCO2E) by 2020. An overview of Poland’s coal mining history and current methane recovery and use efforts can be found in the Global Methane Initiative Coal Mine Methane Country Profile: Poland (June 2015) (PDF) (17 pp, 2 MB) Exit
