About the Electric Vehicle Charging & Solar Initiative

Overview of the Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging & Solar at Workplaces in Southern California

The EV Charging & Solar Initiative provides assistance to organizations to procure affordable EV charging stations, with the option to site solar photovoltaic (PV) energy systems. Participants of this Initiative will receive free assistance to assess and ultimately secure EV charging stations and/or solar PV systems at workplaces throughout the South Coast air basin. Non-profit organizations, local and state governments, colleges and private sector companies located in the South Coast air basin may participate in this Initiative. Technical experts will work with fleet, facility and sustainability managers to identify the best energy system for individual company needs. By joining this initiative, your organization will receive free services that may include: training and educational resources for decision makers, project feasibility assessments, and procurement and vendor selection assistance.

Workplace charging provides critical gaps in EV charging infrastructure by extending electric miles driven, which builds range confidence and ultimately helps increase the adoption of EVs. Combining EV charging stations with solar PV systems helps lower both electric and petroleum bills while supporting the cleanest available zero-emission vehicles and energy systems. In addition, impacts and disruption to the electric grid are greatly minimized.

This initiative is sponsored by the U.S. Environmental Agency (EPA) and the South Coast Quality Management District (AQMD). See the brochure about the Electric Vehicle Charging and Solar Systems in the California South Coast.

In addition to free technical assistance, a rebate may be available to qualified entities to help lower the purchase price of an EV charging station located in Southern California Edison, Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, Glendale, Burbank, Pasadena and Anaheim territories.
