The St. Louis River was designated as an Area of Concern under the 1987 Great Lakes Water Quality Agreement. $30 million of Great Lakes Restoration Initiative funding, including the Great Lakes Legacy Act program funding, is being used to remediate and restore its removal from the binational list of AOCs.
