In addition to waste characterization requirements – which include a system of controls to measure and track important waste components – each site must apply and adhere to quality assurance (QA) measures to its waste identification activities. EPA must separately approve each site’s QA program, just as they do with the waste characterization component.
EPA will continue to conduct annual QA audits and inspections at waste generator sites as necessary to verify continued compliance.
