Save the Date & Register for Technical Webinar on Recently Released Endangered Species Assessments

On May 5, 2016, from 1:00 to 3:00 PM Eastern Time, EPA will hold an online technical briefing on the first-ever draft biological evaluations analyzing the nationwide effects of chlorpyrifos, diazinon and malathion on endangered and threatened species and designated critical habitat. The webinar will provide a technical briefing on the interim measures used in the draft biological evaluations and how to navigate the materials available on the website. We will also cover the topic areas from the draft biological evaluations for which we are specifically soliciting comments. The briefing is intended to help inform the public about the results of the recently released draft biological evaluations for the three organophosphates. EPA posted the biological evaluations on April 6 and opened a 60-day public comment period on April 11. See more information on these evaluations.
Since the biological evaluations are drafts and the comment period is still open, EPA will not be speculating on potential future actions during the webinar. Webinar participants will have the opportunity to submit technical questions about the assessment; however, comments on the assessment, including recommendations for future actions, should be submitted to the official docket.
The webinar has 1,000 slots for presenters and participants. For people who are unable to attend, the session will be recorded and available at the Endangered Species Protection Program Web page shortly after the webinar.
EPA encourages stakeholders and interested members of the public to review the biological evaluations and related documents for each pesticide at:
- Chlorpyrifos biological evaluation.
- Diazinon biological evaluation.
- Malathion biological evaluation.
