  • American Samoa Achieving 100% Renewable Energy through Solar & Battery Storage System
American Samoa’s Ta’u Island is now operating on 100% renewable energy from a utility-scale solar and battery storage microgrid system. EPA supported the project with a grant to the American Samoa Power Authority, the public utility, to help bring clean, reliable power to this rural U.S. territory. The American Samoa Power Authority set a goal for the Manu’a Islands, which include Ta’u Island where this project is located, to be fully free of fossil fuel electricity; this project will allow them to reach this very ambitious goal.
