Financing for Disaster Recovery & Resilience Mitigation for Water and Wastewater Utilities - Nov 22, 2016 and December 7, 2016
The Water Security Division and the Water Infrastructure and Resiliency Finance Center have organized two free webinars to highlight the financing resources available to utilities and communities for disaster recovery and resilience planning with mitigation.
Webinar 1: Disaster Recovery Financing
Webinar 2: Resilience Mitigation Financing
Decontamination Strategies for Utilities- How to Use EPA's Disposal Guide Webinar
Attendees will learn to how to handle large amounts of contaminated water with the Containment and Disposal of Large Amounts of Contaminated Water: A Support Guide for Water Utilities.
WLA Liquid Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS) Library Toolkit Webcast
This webcast is designed as an overview of the “Developing a Liquid Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS) Library: An Example for Drinking Water Screening” Toolkit, and will cover:
- Drivers for developing the LC-MS Toolkit
- Document overview
- How to use the LC-MS library
- Using the LC-MS library for sample screening
- LC-MS multi-laboratory study results
WLA's Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP) Template Training
This webcast is designed as an introduction to the WLA COOP Template, and will cover:
- Rationale for developing the COOP Template
- A basic overview of the contents in the COOP Template
- Demonstration of how to use the COOP Template’s fillable form
- Highlight the value of the COOP Template
WLA Prospective Member Webcast
This webcast provides individuals with the information needed to begin the process of becoming a WLA Member. Participants will review parts of the “Becoming a Member” training course that is available online at the WLA Training Center. The webcast will explain the benefits of being a WLA Member and how WLA Member laboratories are accessed during, and compensated after, a contamination incident, as well as cover the application process.
Extreme Events and Climate Adaptation Planning Workshop
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is offering interactive training workshops to help utilities:
Understand the future impacts of climate change on their region and the water sector
Explore strategies for reducing risk and enhancing resilience to extreme weather events
Plan ahead for addressing long-term climate change impacts
The Extreme Events and Climate Adaptation Workshops will include opportunities for collaborative exchange of ideas as well as hands-on training with the EPA’s Climate Resilience Evaluation and Awareness Tool (CREAT) Version 3.0.
More information and registration link to follow.
Unknown Sampling Guidance Webcast
This webcast will examine recommendations for pathogen, toxin, chemical and radiochemical sample collection preservation and transport procedures that support multiple analytical approaches for the identification of potential contaminants in drinking water. Participants will be presented with examples of what is required for a comprehensive sampling program, and how the guidance can be used to enhance laboratory, utility and emergency responder preparedness by supplementing emergency response plans.
Water Laboratory Alliance Response Plan Tabletop Exercise
The webcast will help participants describe the key elements of the Water Laboratory Response Plan (WLA-RP), including Water Sector best practices for emergency response, describe the roles that laboratories and others would have when they participate in a response to a water contamination incident, identify EPA Water Security tools, and build relationships between laboratories, water utilities, and other stakeholders
