The Water Security Division of the Office of Ground Water and Drinking Water is hosting a webinar on free preparedness tools and resources for drinking water and wastewater utilities. This webinar will feature short presentations on four new tools:
  • Hazard Mitigation for Natural Disasters: A Starter Guide
  • Water Utility Response On-The-Go
  • Laboratory Support Resources
  • Climate Resilience Evaluation and Awareness Tool (CREAT)
The webinar will benefit water utility operators and managers, state and tribal primacy agencies, drinking water and wastewater utility stakeholders, and water utility partners and associations. CEUs will be available for drinking water and wastewater operators participating states.

Extreme Events and Climate Adaptation Planning Workshop

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is offering interactive training workshops to help utilities:

  • Understand the future impacts of climate change on their region and the water sector
  • Explore strategies for reducing risk and enhancing resilience to extreme weather events
  • Plan ahead for addressing long-term climate change impacts

The Extreme Events and Climate Adaptation Workshops will include opportunities for collaborative exchange of ideas as well as hands-on training with the EPA’s Climate Resilience Evaluation and Awareness Tool (CREAT) Version 3.0.

Unknown Sampling Guidance Webcast

This webcast will examine recommendations for pathogen, toxin, chemical and radiochemical sample collection preservation and transport procedures that support multiple analytical approaches for the identification of potential contaminants in drinking water. Participants will be presented with examples of what is required for a comprehensive sampling program, and how the guidance can be used to enhance laboratory, utility and emergency responder preparedness by supplementing emergency response plans.
