This report is a best practices document that describes the technical details of selecting sampling sites to monitor the long-term water quality conditions of minimally disturbed, unregulated freshwater wadeable streams. Using more consistent methods to collect biological and continuous thermal and hydrological data, as outlined in the report, will help states, tribes, and regions identify and analyze natural fluctations in reference or baseline conditions.
