Accomplishments: Bronx and Harlem Urban Waters Location
2015
Bronx and Harlem River Watersheds Project
The project proposes to replace 5,000 square feet of impervious entrance pavement with permeable pavers that can either allow precipitation to infiltrate the surface to a drainage layer that will temporarily store the water before it percolates to the subsurface ground water or for irrigation reuse. Additionally, a 2,000 square foot rain-water garden will be constructed. It will receive any overflow from the permeable pavers as well as sediment pollution from the asphalted area uphill of the entry. The proposed improvements would treat at a minimum the first one-inch of the storm water storm water in the project area (4,920 gallons) and up to 20,900 gallons and improve water quality before discharge to the Bronx River.
