Tires, appliances, furniture, car batteries, and abandoned vehicles may litter reservations. Backyard burning of waste pollutes the air and poisons fish and wildlife. People from on and off reservations may be illegally dumping solid and hazardous waste on tribal lands. These are just some of the waste issues that are pervasive problems on tribal lands. However, Integrated Waste Management Plans (IWMPs) may offer tribes an efficient and cost-effective way to reduce open dumping, effectively manage solid waste, and protect human health and the environment for this generation and the next.You will need Adobe Reader to view some of the files on this page.
