Quincy Smelter remedial actions are completed at the Torch Lake Superfund site. A nine-inch vegetative cover is placed over approximately six acres of stamp lands. MDEQ has been monitoring the parcel since September 2012. |
2010 |
MDEQ (MDNRE at the time) releases an updated BUI Restoration guide for each of the BUIs in the Michigan Areas of Concern. |
2007 |
An update to the RAP is published. The first beneficial use impairment is removed.

2006 |
Cleanup is completed at the Torch Lake Superfund site. EPA finished the project nearly $3 million under budget, at a cost of $12.3 million. Much toxic waste is removed and approximately 800 acres of land are cleaned, cleared, graded, and covered with clean soil and vegetation. |
1999 |
The Scales Creek “Moonscape” remedial project is completed. The focus of the project is to stabilize severely eroded stream banks. Top soil is applied, native grasses are planted, and a rock reef is constructed. |

The stage I Remedial Action Plan is published. |
