EPA Region 6 Greenovations Award
Background
EPA Region 6 developed the Greenovations Award to recognize outstanding efforts in sustainability, reuse, green remediation, and alternative and renewable energy utilization.
Eligibility
The Greenovations Award can be given to a responsible party, developer, site owner, nonprofit, local government or community member who has demonstrated excellence in working cooperatively with Region 6 to support safe and responsible cleanup and reuse, especially those that promote innovative and sustainable reuse outcomes.
Evaluation Criteria for Greenovations Award
- Consideration of and effect on the local community
- Implementation of sustainable practices
- Innovation and creative thinking
- Consideration of long-term implementation of the selected remedy and its impact on the environment
- Demonstration of outstanding environmental stewardship
Site Award Winners
On May 2, 2014, the EPA Region 6 Superfund Division Director presented the first EPA Region 6 “Greenovations Award” to Waste Management of Oklahoma for work at the Mosley Road Sanitary Landfill Superfund Site. Awards will continue to be granted for efforts by Superfund site stakeholders meeting part or all of the above eligibility and evaluation criteria.
