The Source Water Collaborative consists of 26 national organizations united to protect America's drinking water at its source -- in lakes, rivers, streams, and aquifers.

The Source Water Collaborative has agreed to the following goals and objectives:

• Contain or prevent contamination
• Promote development patterns that limit threats to drinking water sources
• Encourage matching uses of land with locations least likely to affect drinking water sources
• Preserve the land needed to protect the quality of current and future sources of drinking water
