The Vermont Smart Growth Scorecard (2000), developed by the Vermont Natural Resources Council in partnership with the Orton Family Foundation, is an easy-to-use tool for communities to assess their ability to handle projected growth and development. The scorecard has eight categories based on locally developed principles for smart growth in Vermont. Each category has multiple-choice questions that assign relative values to the chosen answers. The scorecard concludes with resources and suggestions communities can use once they have evaluated their current conditions.
