Redevelopment Ready Communities: Best Practices and Scoring System

In 2006, under a grant from EPA, the Michigan Suburbs Alliance released this report on the Redevelopment Ready Communities program, which encourages mature suburbs to bolster their competitiveness by making development more efficient and less complicated.

The program helps cities acquire skills, knowledge, and methods to compete for redevelopment opportunities. A system for certifying communities as "redevelopment ready" benefits developers as well as older communities struggling to revitalize. The publication includes the scoring system used to rate a community's redevelopment climate and the strategies a community could adopt to improve it.
