Protecting Water Quality With Smart Growth Strategies and Natural Stormwater Management in Sussex County, Delaware

Sussex County and the Sea Grant program at the University of Delaware requested Smart Growth Implementation Assistance for Coastal Communities from EPA and NOAA to help find options for development that will better protect water quality as the county grows. 

Protecting Water Quality With Smart Growth Strategies and Natural Stormwater Management in Sussex County, Delaware (2009) describes the project and how smart growth and sustainable stormwater management approaches (known as green infrastructure) could be applied to Sussex County. The report provides site-level stormwater design strategies that can be used to manage stormwater in a front yard, neighborhood street, parking lot, or development parcel.
