Shoreline restoration, bank stabilization, and in-stream habitat projects are completed at Kiwanis Park, Wildwood Island, and the area of Taylor Drive and Indiana Avenue. $5.5 million in GLRI funds is used towards the projects. Cleanup in the AOC is deemed complete in June. |

2012 |
An update to the Stage II RAP is produced that addresses progress made since the 2011 RAP.
EPA begins $30-35 million Legacy Act project to remove 160,000 cubic yards of sediment contaminated with PCBs and PAHs. Navigation is also improved as a result of dredging. |

Stage II of the RAP iscompleted. The document identifies actions needed to initiate the delisting process.

A report is completed regarding delisting targets for the AOC.

Phase II of the Sheboygan Superfund site cleanup is completed, removing a large amount of river contamination. Phase I was completed in 2004. |

2004 |
The City of Sheboygan and WDNR complete the redevelopment of the former C. Reiss Coal Peninsula on Lake Michigan and the Sheboygan River. It includes permitting for seawall reconstruction and a dune re-creation project. WDNR concludes two Onion River trout stream restoration projects, a small wetland restoration, and trout population surveys on the Onion River and its tributaries. |

Sheboygan County Planning and Conservation Department begin the vegetated buffer strip program. The program is ongoing with the goal of installing vegetated buffers along all streams considered navigable under Sheboygan County’s shoreland and floodplain ordinances. |
