2012

The “Transforming the Rouge” project is completed. Green riparian corridors are unified, fisheries are improved and priorities are developed for the implementation of restoration projects.


The delisting strategy for the Area of Concern is revised. Specific delisting projects are identified to accelerate the delisting process.


The Alliance of Rouge Communities releases a five-year plan that includes habitat restoration and wastewater improvement projects that work towards the removal of three BUIs.

2011

A progress report about the Rouge River National Wet Weather Demonstration Project is published.

2010

An ecosystem monitoring and assessment report is published as part of the Rouge River National Wet Weather Demonstration Project.


A sediment investigation regarding levels of contamination in the Lower Rouge River is published.


MDEQ (MDNRE at the time) releases an updated BUI Restoration guide for each of the BUIs in the Michigan Areas of Concern.

2008

MDEQ (MDNRE at the time) publishe an update to the remedial action plan.

2004

A RAP update is published that outlines an ambitious 20-year plan to fully restore the AOC. 36 new grant-funded community projects are also awarded.


Friends of the Rouge received a grant from MDEQ to continue its benthic monitoring and toad survey programs.

1994

An update to the remedial action plan is published that describes results of several studies from 1990-1994.

1990 Stage I of the Rouge River Remedial Action Plan is published.
