Details

During the 2015 Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry (SETAC) North America 36th Annual Meeting, EPA will host a kick-off event to congratulate and bring together the grantees receiving STAR grants under the Systems-Based Research for Evaluating Ecological Impacts of Manufactured Chemicals RFA. These six grantees were recently awarded more than $4 million for research to study the ecological impacts of manufactured chemicals, leading to better risk assessments and decisions for protecting environment and ecological system. The research funded by these STAR grants will provide new approaches to evaluate how exposures to chemicals influence the health of ecological systems, and how these approaches can be used to predict, prevent and mitigate these impacts in the long run. This knowledge will help us more effectively protect the environment from adverse impacts of chemicals over time. The projects will develop and apply innovative methods and models to better understand and predict the biological and ecological consequences of exposures to chemicals in environmental system.
