When barges visit the KCBX Southeast Chicago Facility, bulk solid material such as petroleum coke (pet coke) or coal, blow from the decks. U.S. EPA seeks to better understand the impact of petroleum coke on the waters surrounding the KCBX facility.
To accomplish this, EPA has issued a number of information requests to barge operators under Section 308 of the Clean Water Act. Responses to these information requests will help EPA to understand if barge operators are complying with provisions of the 2013 Vessel General Permit.
On this page we will post 308 requests and responses from the barge owners to the 308 requests.
