EPA Response to KCBX South Monitor Termination Request

In a letter dated March 23, 2016, EPA conditionally approved KCBX’s request to alter the monitoring requirements at the South Terminal. Ambient air monitoring continues at the South Terminal.

KCBX requested EPA to remove the air monitoring requirements for its South Terminal.

  • EPA will allow the termination of the filter-based monitor unit at the South Terminal.
  • EPA will allow the reporting requirements for the raw air monitoring data for the continuous monitors to be moved to monthly submissions.
  • KCBX is required to continue operation of the meteorological station and the five continuous air monitors at the South Terminal.
