Honoring an Environmental Educator
The Presidential Innovation Award for Environmental Education has been awarded to James Powell, a science teacher from California, who spread environmental literacy in his classroom through outdoor teaching. His award was presented in a ceremony at the White House recognizing environmental educators who use innovative, hands-on, experiential approaches.

Safer Choices for All
EPA's Safer Choice program helps consumers and commercial buyers identify and select products with safer chemical ingredients. PRIDE Industries of California, one of the nation's largest nonprofit employers of people with disabilities, has been recognized for its prominent use of the Safer Choice label on its products and for emphasizing the importance of safer products to sensitive populations.

Protecting Communities from Oil Spills
EPA has resolved a series of cases under the Clean Water Act for violations of federal oil pollution prevention regulations. The settlements will help to ensure that companies that store oil comply with federal standards and are prepared to respond to a worst case oil discharge emergency.
