Pollution Prevention (P2)

Fiscal Year 2015 Source Reduction Assistance (SRA) Grant Summaries

In fiscal year 2015, EPA awarded approximately $1 million in federal funding under the Source Reduction Assistance (SRA) Grants Program to support pollution prevention (P2) activities across all environmental media — air, water and land.

Activities proposed by grantees would develop and enhance P2 activities that relate to:  research, investigations, experiments, education, training, surveys, studies and/or demonstration of innovative techniques.

Eligibility included: state agencies, federally-recognized tribes, and colleges and universities (that are instrumentalities of a state), local, city and township governments, nonprofit and community based grassroots organizations, and independent school districts and private institutions of higher education.

The number and amount of grants awarded depended on congressional appropriation and the quality of proposals received. During the FY 2015 competition cycle, applicants were instructed to address as part of their proposed activity one or more of the P2 Program’s National Emphasis Areas – climate change mitigation/prevention of greenhouse gas emissions; food manufacturing and processing; or state/community approaches to hazardous materials source reduction.

This page provides summaries for the public and P2 practitioners on SRA grants awarded between June 2015-September 2015. The summaries include the applicant's name, the federal dollar amount (for the first year, in cases of multiple year grants) and a brief description of the project.
