Biography of Liza Dawson

Liza Dawson is Research Ethics Team Leader in the Division of AIDS (DAIDS), at the National Institutes of Helath (NIH) National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID). In this role she provides consultation and advice on research ethics issues for DAIDS research programs, coordinates a portfolio of extramural bioethics grants, and reviews clinical trial protocols as part of the DAIDS scientific review committee.

Previously she worked at the NIH Office of the Director, Office of Science Policy, on human subjects oversight and bioethics issues and at the NIH Fogarty International Center. Prior to working at NIH she was a Research Associate at Johns Hopkins University in the Bioethics Institute.

Dr. Dawson received her PhD from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in 1998 and her BA in biochemistry from Cornell University in 1981.
