MEDIA ADVISORY: EPA, NHTSA Hold Public Hearing on Proposed Phase 2 Greenhouse Gas Standards for Medium- and Heavy-Duty Trucks

(Long Beach) --- On Tuesday, August 18th, EPA and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA)will hold a national public hearing in Long Beach, California, to receive comments on their joint proposed rules, ''Greenhouse Gas Emissions and Fuel Efficiency Standards for Medium- and Heavy-Duty Engines and Vehicles-Phase 2,'' and also for NHTSA's Draft Environmental Impact Statement on those rules.

The upcoming public hearing will provide interested parties the opportunity to present data, views, or arguments concerning the proposal, which is available online.

Christopher Grundler, director of EPA's Office of Transportation and Air Quality, will attend the hearing, along with other officials from EPA and NHTSA. Grundler will have one media availability during the event.


WHAT: National Public Hearing on Greenhouse Gas Emissions and Fuel Efficiency Standards for Medium- and Heavy-Duty Engines and Vehicles-Phase 2

WHEN: The hearing will begin at 9 a.m. Pacific Time on Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2015. It will conclude when all parties present who wish to speak have had an opportunity to do so.

WHERE: Westin Hotel, Long Beach, 333 East Ocean Boulevard, Long Beach, California.

EPA may ask clarifying questions during the oral presentations but will not respond to the presentations at that time. Written statements and supporting information submitted during the comment period will be considered with the same weight as any oral comments and supporting information presented at the public hearing. Written comments must be received by the last day of the comment period, Sept. 17, 2015.
