Region 8 Technical Library Services

The mission of the Region 8 Technical Library is to provide technical library services to EPA Region 8 staff, and to make environmental information and resources easily accessible to the public. The library works with Region 8's Environmental Information Service Center (EISC) to provide quality environmental information to all.

Hours of Operation
The library is open 8 a.m.–4 p.m., Monday through Thursday, excluding federal holidays, for EPA staff and the public. All visitors to the Region 8 office must show a picture ID such as a current driver's license. Visitors must also register at the guard desk in the lobby before proceeding to the Library.

Borrowing Policy and Interlibrary Loans

The library's materials are available for circulation to EPA Region 8 staff and to others through Interlibrary Loans. Reference and certain special collection items do not circulate.

To locate EPA library and repository materials, you can search the EPA National Library Catalog, EPA libraries' online catalog. If you have any questions, please call or email the library.

Information for Other Libraries: We share materials with other libraries at no charge via the OCLC Interlibrary Loan system. Our OCLC symbol is EOA and we are members of LVIS (Libraries Very Interested in Sharing). For libraries that do not have OCLC access, please contact the Library's main number at 303-312-7226 or library-reg8@epa.gov for alternate methods.

About the Collection

The Region 8 collection focuses on environmental issues and conditions unique to the American West, including Colorado, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Utah, Wyoming and the 27 sovereign tribal nations. Special collections include: Green Buildings, Environmental Sustainability, Environmental Justice, and Western Wetlands. The library maintains paper copies of EPA reports, USGS reports, maps, environmental regulations and older journals.

History

The Region 8 Library was established in the early 1970s with a small collection of handbooks, reports and printed regulations. There have been several moves over the last 35+ years as the Regional office has grown and the library has expanded. Currently the collection includes over 20,000 EPA reports, books and journals.
