History of the Library

The Ground Water and Ecosystems Restoration Division Library was originally established in 1966 as part of the Federal Water Pollution Control Administration.  Senate Bill 349 established the right of the Secretary of the Interior to establish and operate a national water resources library located in Ada, Oklahoma, to serve as the national center for the “collection, evaluation, organization, and dissemination of information on all aspects of water resources.”
