Announcement of New Appointment to the e-Manifest Advisory Board

EPA is pleased to announce its newest selected member of the e-Manifest Advisory Board. In late summer of 2016, EPA solicited nominations for qualified individuals to fill one available position for an expert in Information Technology on the e-Manifest Advisory Board. From a robust set of nominations, EPA has selected Mr. Robert Klopp, Chief Information Officer (CIO) of the Social Security Administration (SSA).

Mr. Klopp began at the SSA as the CIO in January 2015. He comes to the Baltimore/DC area from the Silicon Valley, where he has worked for both large software enterprises and for smaller start-ups. Mr. Klopp spent nearly two years based in Switzerland as the EMC/Greenplum Chief Technology Officer (CTO) for Europe, the Middle East and Africa. He has also worked in the consulting services space for EDS, now part of HP, and for what is now KPMG, as well as operating his own boutique consultancy. He founded a small software start-up that was sold to a large database company. Mr. Klopp began his career out of college working for the state of California as a mainframe systems programmer. Throughout his career, Mr. Klopp has filled both technical and executive roles- sometimes facing the engineering and product side of the business and sometimes facing the end-users, but always with both feet grounded in the technology.
