Cleanup Status
Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PADEP) visited the FBC Chemical Corp. facility and met with company representatives on July 30, 2002. EPA has reviewed the existing environmental information and determined that further investigation is required. In coordination with EPA, the Facility is performing additional groundwater and vapor intrusion investigations. EPA will focus first on the health and groundwater impacts, if any, presented by the facility. Once EPA completes this review process, an environmental indicator determination will be prepared and posted to this website.
Site Description

The site is an 18-acre parcel located in the City of DuBois, Pennsylvania. Beginning sometimes in the 1800 until 1876, the Invensys facility was used as a lumber mill, and then was used as an iron and steel foundry until 1937. After 1937, the plant was used for the manufacture of domestic gas meters and gas regulation equipment. Manufacturing activities at the site include gas meter assembly, testing, painting, diaphragm fabrication, plastic molding, white metal die casting, wet scrubbing of air emissions from diaphragm vulcanization process, machining, degreasing, and tin plating.

The facility was a large quantity hazardous waste generator (LQG) until 2006.
