EPA Region 3 has determined that Corrective Action is complete and no land use controls are required (Corrective Action Complete without Controls) for the Facility.
The Environmental Indicators (EIs) were completed on March 13, 2001. The two EIs are called "Current Human Exposures Under Control" and "Migration of Contaminated Groundwater Under Control." The EIs completed reflect the decision of Corrective Action Complete without Controls and have status codes of “Yes, Under Control” for both.

View larger mapThe Safety Kleen Corp. facility is a three acre site located on Industrial Park Road in Athens, Bradford County, Pennsylvania. The facility opened in 1988 and obtained a Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) permit for container and tank storage of hazardous waste generated off-site on April 1, 1994. The majority of wastes were mineral spirits and solvents. These wastes were ultimately shipped off-site for reclamation or disposal. Spills that occurred have been collected by the secondary containment and cleaned up under Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PADEP) supervision. The facility ceased operations in 2003, and the property is now owned by G. Webster Inc.
