EPA's Final Decision of Corrective Action Complete without Controls for the facility became effective October 29, 2010 with no further action or controls are needed and the site is protective of human health and the environment.
Site Description
FBC Chemical Corp. is located at 634 Route 228 in Mars, Butler County and has operated a Wholesale distributor of industrial chemicals since 1968. In addition to distributing industrial chemicals, FBC Chemical Corp. collected spent solvents from its customers, stored spent solvents at the facility, and transported the wastes offsite for disposal. No hazardous waste has been transported off-site for disposal since March 31, 1988. No releases were documented from the former drummed solvent storage area, the inactive hazardous waste storage area, and the new waste accumulation area. The inactive hazardous waste storage area was clean closed in 1994.

On June 25, 2010, EPA determined that the facility had met both environmental indicators: (1) Current Human Exposures Under Control and (2) Migration of Contaminated Groundwater Under Control.

Institutional Controls were not required at the site.
