Hazardous Waste Cleanup: Stone Industrial Division of Precision Products Group Incorporated in College Park, Maryland

The College Park location manufactures plastic tubing for the household motor industry under the name Stone Industrial Precision Products Group Inc. The site has manufactured custom spiral-wound products and tubing since 1950.

Cleanup Status

Review of all available records and discussions during a June 22, 2010 site visit indicate there was a single release of 450 gallons of Methyl Ethyl Ketone in 1989 that was contained and cleaned up under Maryland Department of the Environment supervision. All hazardous wastes are stored and managed indoors.

A Final Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) Site Visit Report was issued on August 11, 2010 for the Facility. A Statement of Basis (SOB) was noticed on December 28, 2010. The EPA issued its Final Decision regarding the Facility on February 7, 2011 stating that Corrective Action was Complete without Controls.

The Facility consists of three building located on 17 acres at 9207 51st Avenue, College Park, Maryland. The Facility is located in southern Maryland just inside the I-495 beltway around Washington D.C. and to the east of I-95. The site is located in a commercial/residential area and is bordered by the B&O Railroad tracks along the eastern border.
