The greenhouse gas equivalencies calculator can help you understand just that, translating abstract measurements into concrete terms you can understand, such as "equivalent to avoiding the carbon dioxide emissions of 183,000 cars annually."
Household Carbon Footprint Calculator - You can use this online calculator to get a rough “ballpark” estimate of your personal or family’s greenhouse gas emissions (includes a section called "On the Road") and explore the impact of taking various actions to reduce your emissions.
Sources of Greenhouse Gas Emissions. The largest sources of transportation-related greenhouse gas emissions include passenger cars and light-duty trucks, including sport utility vehicles, pickup trucks, and minivans. There are a variety of opportunities to reduce greenhouse gas emissions associated with transportation.

Everything you buy affects the environment -- You can conserve resources, save energy, and prevent waste by buying products that: are energy efficient; are used or reusable; are made with recycled content or are recyclable; and have no packaging or reduced packaging.

The initiatives that are being put in place at PNC Park will have an immediate positive impact and not only make sense for the environment, but business sense as well.
St. Louis Cardinals: The Cardinals began the "4 A Greener Game Program" at Busch Stadium during the 2008 season as a two month pilot program. After tremendous success, the program now averages over 25 volunteers per game with numbers increasing year after year.

2014 NHL Sustainability Report: The purpose of the 2014 NHL SUSTAINABILITY REPORT is to address recent efforts and the challenges the NHL faces from an environmental perspective. For a number of years now, the League and Clubs have been working together toward the common goal of greater sustainability.
NHL Green launches Hat Tricks for Trees: NHL Green announced the launch of Hat Tricks for Trees, an initiative assisting The Nature Conservancy’s effort to save Brazil’s Atlantic Forest. The National Hockey League Foundation, through NHL Green’s Hat Tricks for Trees, will donate 50 trees for every hat trick scored throughout the 2012-13 regular season and NHL Playoffs.
