Towards a Resilient Future:Restoration of Ralston Creek Within Riverfront Crossings Park

Like many communities across the country, Iowa City, Iowa has a rich history intricately linked to its water resources. Development has encroached upon the Iowa River and Ralston Creek to the point at which some areas of their channels have been hardened, straightened, or even buried. Development in the city’s floodplains has left critical infrastructure vulnerable to large floods and heavy storm events.

This document describes a plan for restoring the floodplain and wetland areas, which is part of a larger redevelopment master plan for downtown Iowa City.
