Environmental Education Local Grants Program Solicitation Notice for

Description: The purpose of the Environmental Education Local Grants Program is to support locally-focused environmental education projects that increase public awareness and knowledge about environmental issues and provide the skills that participants in its funded projects need to make informed environmental decisions and take responsible actions toward the environment.

Tribal Technical Assistance for Brownfields
Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance (CFDA) number for the competition: 66.814
Description: EPA’s Brownfields program provides grants and technical assistance to communities, states, tribes, and other stakeholders, giving them the resources they need to prevent, assess, safely clean up, and sustainably reuse brownfields. Cleaning up and reinvesting in these properties protects the environment, reduces blight, and takes development pressures off greenspaces and working lands. EPA’s Land Revitalization program works with communities, states, non-profits and other stakeholders to develop and test sustainable approaches for the reuse of formerly contaminated properties.

Region 1 - Healthy Communities Grant Program

Description: The Healthy Communities Grant Program is EPA New England’s main competitive grant program to work directly with communities to reduce environmental risks, protect and improve human health and improve the quality of life. The Healthy Communities Grant Program will achieve this through identifying and funding projects that:
- Target resources to benefit communities at risk.
- Assess, understand, and reduce environmental and human health risks.
- Increase collaboration through partnerships and community-based projects.
- Build institutional and community capacity to understand and solve environmental and human health problems.
- Advance emergency preparedness and ecosystem resilience.
- Achieve measurable environmental and human health benefits.

Source Reduction Assistance (SRA) Grant Program
Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance (CFDA) number for the competition: 66.717
Description: SRA grants support projects that enhance or promote pollution prevention/source reduction and resource conservation as they relate to three national emphasis areas: 1) Climate Change Mitigation/Prevention of Greenhouse Gas Emissions, 2) Food Manufacturing and 3) State or Community Approaches to Hazardous Materials Source Reduction. Surveys, studies, research, investigation, experimentation, education, training and/or innovative practices need to be used to carry out SRA projects.

Brownfields Area-Wide Planning
Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance (CFDA) number for the competition: 66.814
Description: EPA’s Brownfields and Land Revitalization program provides grants to eligible entities (such as local governments, certain quasi-governmental organizations, nonprofit organizations, tribes, states, etc) to conduct research and technical assistance activities that will enable them to develop an area-wide plan for brownfields assessment, cleanup, subsequent reuse and relevant project area revitalization strategies. Applicants must focus on a specific project area (such as a neighborhood, downtown, local commercial or industrial corridor, community waterfront, etc) affected by one or more brownfields.

Urban Waters Small Grants
Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance (CFDA) number for the competition: 66.440
Description: The Urban Waters Program seeks to help communities, especially underserved communities, connect to their waterways and engage in restoration to improve water quality and, at the same time, revitalize their neighborhoods. The goal of the Urban Waters Small Grants (UWSG) program is to fund:
- research

- experiments
- training
- studies and
- demonstrations
that will advance the restoration of urban waters by improving water quality through community-driven activities that also support local priorities. This program recognizes that healthy and accessible urban waters can help grow local businesses and enhance educational, recreational, social and employment opportunities in nearby communities.

Environmental Workforce Development and Job Training Grants Program

Description:
Environmental Workforce Development and Job Training grants allow nonprofit and other eligible organizations to recruit, train, and place predominantly low-income and minority, unemployed and under-employed people living in areas affected by solid and hazardous waste. Residents learn the skills needed to secure full-time, sustainable employment in the environmental field, including assessment and cleanup. These green jobs reduce environmental contamination and build more sustainable futures for communities.
