Exposure Assessment Models

Peer Review of AQUATOX

AQUATOX Release 2 underwent an external peer review in early 2003, and Release 3 underwent an external peer review in late 2008. Reviewers stated "model enhancements have made AQUATOX one of the most exciting tools in aquatic ecosystem management."  "This is the first model that provides a reasonable interface for scientists to explore ecosystem level effects from multiple stressors over time." and "the integration of ICE data into AQUATOX makes this model one of the most comprehensive aquatic ecotoxicology programs available."  In each review only minor changes to the model and documentation were requested by the panels. The following were the members of the Peer Review Panel and their affiliations at that time:

Release 2

  • Donald DeAngelis, U.S. Geological Survey, University of Miami
  • Robert Pastorok, Exponent Consulting
  • Frieda Taub, the University of Washington

Release 3

  • Marty Matlock, the University of Arkansas
  • Damian Preziosi, Integral Consulting, Inc.
  • Frieda Taub, the University of Washington
