  • Preliminary Study of Carbon Disulfide Discharges from Cellulose Products Manufacturers (PDF)(29 pp, 281 K, December 2011, 821-R-11-009)
EPA researched how CS2 enters wastewater at cellulose manufacturers and its fate in the facilities’ existing wastewater treatment systems. EPA also collected data on whether the CS2 discharges would impact human health or aquatic life.
  • Tobacco Products Processing Detailed Study (PDF)(86 pp, 675 K, November 2006, 821-R-06-017)
EPA studied wastewater discharges from the tobacco products industry to determine: 1. Whether toxic and nonconventional discharges from the industry are trivial or nontrivial; and 2. Whether the pollutants discharged are not susceptible to treatment by publicly owned treatment works (POTWs), or interfere with the operation of POTWs.
  • Preliminary Data Summary for Industrial Container and Drum Cleaning Industry (PDF)(148 pp, 920 K, June 2002, 821-R-02-011)
Summary of the practices and technologies used by the Industrial Container and Drum Cleaning Industry to control pollutant discharges to surface waters and publicly-owned treatment works
  • Preliminary Data Summary of Urban Storm Water Best Management Practices (PDF)(214 pp, 2 MB, August 1999, 821-R-99-012)
Report discusses storm water BMP performance measures, measurement methods, design criteria, monitoring issues, costs, benefits and economic impacts of constructing and operating BMPs. Structural BMPs described include infiltration devices, ponds, filters and constructed wetlands. Non-structural BMPs, low impact development practices and management measures such as maintenance practices, street sweeping, public education and outreach programs are also discussed.
