Dioxin is commonly found at hazardous waste sites, including sites on EPA’s National Priority List, for which the cleanup is managed under EPA’s Superfund program. EPA has information to help assessors on these sites characterize soil contaminated with dioxins. Specifically, EPA provides:

• questions and answers with regards to the 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin (TCDD) non-cancer toxicity value, or reference dose (RfD), at Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) and Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA) sites, and
• a Dioxin Toolbox, which contains technical documents to assist Superfund project managers in the sampling and analysis of dioxin-contaminated soils.
