Deer Lake Area of Concern Final Delisting Report

Michigan Department of Environmental Quality prepared this report and submitted it to U.S. EPA.

As the lead agency for AOC coordination, the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality is responsible for developing quantifiable targets to measure progress toward restoring the AOC. Working closely with members of the Deer Lake Public Advisory Council, U.S. EPA and other partners, the MDEQ has determined that management actions are sufficiently complete to support delisting of the Deer Lake AOC.

This document serves as a final delisting report and provides the rationale to support the delisting decision. It summarizes the efforts of all parties to remove the three Beneficial Use Impairments (BUIs) for the AOC: Restrictions on Fish and Wildlife Consumption, Eutrophication or Undesirable Algae, and Bird or Animal Deformities or Reproductive Problems.
