Site Specific National Cleanup Databases

Multi-Program Databases

  • Cleanups in My Community (CIMC) - A web application that shows sites where pollution is being or has been cleaned up throughout the United States. Currently, for a wide variety of geographic areas, it maps, lists and provides cleanup progress profiles for Superfund, RCRA Corrective Action, Brownfields, Emergency Responses, Incidents of National Significance and Federal Facilities for which EPA collects/creates information.

  • Re-Powering Mapper - RE-Powering Mapper makes it possible to view EPA's information about renewable energy potential on contaminated lands, landfills, and mine sites, alongside other information contained in Google Earth.  It includes Utility Scale Sites, Large Scale Sites, Solar on Landfills, Completed Installations, and Feasibility Studies.

  • Facility Registry Service (FRS) - The Facility Registry Service provides quality facility data to support EPA's mission of protecting human health and the environment. Learn more about facilities, sites, or places of environmental interest that are subject to regulation.

  • MyProperty - A reporting tool, powered by FRS, that enables searching across multiple EPA databases to determine if EPA databases have records on a specific property without filing a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request. The results of this search will be identical to the information you would receive by filing a FOIA request with EPA for these records.

  • Clip and Ship - An online viewer that allows for a quick download of data that can then be used offline.

  • MyEnvironment - A web-based tool that provides a wide range of federal, state, and local information about environmental conditions and features in an area of your choice.

  • EnviroFacts - A database and search tool that provides access to EPA's information about regulated facilities.

  • EnviroMapper - A tool used to map various types of environmental information, including air releases, drinking water, toxic releases, hazardous wastes, water discharge permits, and Superfund sites.

  • NEPAssist - A tool that facilitates the environmental review process and project planning in relation to environmental considerations. The web-based application includes facility locations.

  • ECHO - A tool that provides information on whether EPA or State/local governments have conducted compliance inspections, violations were detected, or enforcement actions were taken and penalties were assessed at facilities in response to environmental law violations.

  • EJScreen - An environmental justice screening and mapping tool that provides EPA and the public with a nationally consistent approach to characterizing potential areas may warrant further consideration, analysis, or outreach.

Infomation about Facilities in Individual Programs

In addition to finding facility information from the national systems above, the following program-specific web areas contain additional information about these types of facilities.

  • Superfund Site Information - This page links you to information on Superfund hazardous waste sites, potential hazardous waste sites, and remedial activities across the nation, including sites that are on the National Priorities List (NPL), are being considered for the NPL, or have been deleted from the NPL.

    • Records of Decision - RODS is the Record of Decision System that provides the justification for the remedial action (treatment) chosen at a Superfund site. It also contains site history, site description, site characteristics, community participation, enforcement activities, past and present activities, contaminated media, the contaminants present, scope and role of response action, and the remedy selected for cleanup.

    • 5-Year Reviews - Five-Year Reviews are documents prepared by EPA to evaluate the implementation and performance of Superfund site remedies to determine if they remain protective of human health and the environment.e 5-year reviews.

  • Federal Facilities - From nuclear weapons plants and military bases to landfills and fuel distribution stations, the U.S. government operates thousands of facilities across the country that promote the security and welfare of American citizens. Constant improvements in technology and national security now permit that many of these facilities be transformed for other beneficial uses. To overcome the difficulties posed by contamination at Federal facilities, EPA works with the Department of Defense (DoD), Department of Energy (DOE), and other Federal entities to develop creative, cost-effective solutions to their environmental problems.

  • RCRAInfo Web - Hazardous waste information contained in a national program management and inventory system about hazardous waste handlers. In general, all generators, transporters, treaters, storers, and disposers of hazardous waste are required to provide information about their activities to state environmental agencies which report the data through RCRAInfo.

  • Brownfields Success Stories - These are fact sheets about some of the successful Brownfields projects.  The best way to get complete lists of Brownfields and Brownfields property data is through the list/table functions of CIMC.

  • Underground Storage Tanks - This link provides state and regional contact information, plus up-to-date data on the UST system universe as well as the status of implementing various national program initiatives.  Individual states may have UST/LUST sites listed.  Regions will have information about UST/LUST sites on tribal lands.
