Energy Star CHP Awards

The Energy Star CHP Awards recognize CHP systems that have demonstrated superior performance, specifically systems that:

  • Use at least 10 percent less fuel than state-of-the-art separate heat and power generation
  • Are affiliated with one or more EPA CHP Partners
  • Have a minimum of 12 months and 5,000 hours of measured operating data beginning within 14 months prior to the date of application
  • Are operating within applicable permitted emission limits

Individuals interested in applying for an Energy Star CHP Award should contact chp@epa.gov and request an application

When a system qualifies for an award, the recipient will:

  • Receive a letter from EPA recognizing the awardee's achievement
  • Be profiled on the CHP Partnership Web site, including a description of the system's energy efficiency and emissions benefits
  • Be recognized at an awards presentation ceremony attended by their peers
