Where were you born?
Jacksonville, North Carolina.
What brought you to EPA?
During my last year of graduate school at North Carolina Central University, I had an internship with EPA at Research Triangle Park, NC. Towards the end of my internship, I was encouraged to apply for a permanent position with the Agency, and was hired. As they say, the rest is history!
What type of work do you do at EPA?
As a congressional liaison, I facilitate interaction between congressional offices and EPA staff. My portfolio consists of air issues, including stationary sources and energy efficiency.
What is your highest level of education? What was your major?
I went to North Carolina Central University for both my undergraduate and graduate degrees in history.
What message would you like to send other Black/African Americans who are considering college or a career in environmental protection?
Go for it! The importance of diversity within the environmental movement cannot be overestimated.
