EPA has full-time volunteer clerkship positions available during the summer, fall and spring in our Region 10 Office of Regional Counsel in downtown Seattle. 

What type of work will I do?

Law clerks will conduct legal research, prepare pleadings and motions in administrative cases, draft legal memoranda, attend negotiations with members of the regulated community and attend meetings with representatives of other agencies. Opportunities may also arise to participate in administrative enforcement hearings or attend court proceedings.

Second year law students with strong research and writing skills and a demonstrated interest in environmental law and policy are encouraged to apply.

How do I apply?

Law students wishing to be considered should submit:

1. Cover letter indicating your interest in working in ORC and the time periods you would be available to work;
2. Resume;
3. Writing sample;
4. Official or unofficial copy of your law school transcript; and
5. Contact information for at least two professional references.
