Retailers play an important role in educating the public, and providing them with tools to make the right decisions about what and how they burn.  Working with the hearth industry, EPA has developed Burn Wise outreach tools specifically for retailers.  These materials are designed to: 

• educate users on how to properly use wood burning appliances, and burn dry wood
• encourage upgrades to cleaner burning technologies, like gas or EPA-certified stoves

In addition, the materials are meant to ensure the home owner understands the benefits- improved efficiency, a safer home and a healthier family- of taking action to burn cleaner and more efficiently.
